We are smack dab in the middle of a luscious strawberry season here in NC. Not sure how it happened, but this year's crop is one of the best we've seen. We were treated to a great field trip at our neighborhood farm. Ms. Rhonda shared her knowledge and passion with the kids and taught them how to be expert pickers...

The kids learned all about the life cycle and the pollination process...
In no time at all there were drippy, red chins all around...
Then we were off to the barn to visit the animals. Love the pig tails :)
The kids loved watching the working bee hive. These little creatures are the powerhouses of the strawberry crop.
The new baby goats were so precious...
The picking could not be easier. They are everywhere you turn. You can easily fill your bucket just sitting in one place. The yummy taste, low prices, and sunny days keep calling us back. A few days later we went again. Allison was like a kid in a candy store. After promptly filling her bucket with huge, red strawberries- she sat down and ate the whole thing!

Nothing like some homemade ice cream, cake, cobbler, and strawberry shortcake to make an afternoon great.
And I must confess I have made three strawberry pies just this week! Wish this screen has taste-o-vision...

Your field trips always make me want to homeschool!!! We have our own strawberry patch oin the back yard, you guys should really try planting some, they are so low maintenance!
