Carter got the unique opportunity to enjoy a classic American dream. The Washington Nationals just opened their new ballpark....4 blocks from Mimi and Grandpa's. We carefully planned this trip to coincide with their series against the Phillies. Carter could not wait. Let's just say he was so excited to be going to a night game he even agreed to take a nap! He hasn't done that in months! Mimi and Grandpa decked him out from head to toe in a new Ryan Howard Phillies uniform and we were off. Like kids in a candy store we started off up the street- I don't know who was more excited.

It is a beautiful park with well-planned architecture and fantastic views. The field opens before you as you enter the main gates. Everything so crisp, clean, and new! We were there early, so Carter took advantage of the awesome playground, watching the batting cages, and the kids-only concession stand- so cool!

Then we found our seats- what an awesome view! Carter settled in with his Dippin Dots (his version of a hot dog :) and took it all in.

He knows the whole line up and was yelling at the teams, just like his Grandpa. As usual he was captivated for the entire game....anxiously waiting for the team to make something happen.

Sadly the Phillies couldn't get it together and lost to a team they should've beat, but it didn't dampen Carter's spirits a bit.
We expected him to be worn out by the end, but he was still rarin' to go. Grandpa carried him for a few blocks and then her ran the rest of the way reenacting his favorite plays, while Grandpa did the commentary. It was a magical night for us all and one Carter is not soon to forget.

Happy fans...headin' home.
Before he went to bed, he told Mimi and Grandpa they were going to put on a play about baseball...and this time the Phillies would win!
