Today was the final game of the baseball season for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
It was a scorcher out there on the field at high noon, but we were ready for some baseball. Coach Chris and Daddy trying to work some logistical magic before the game...
...with everyone's vacations we were down to just 8 players. This could get interesting.
Carter was batting pretty good today. Popped the first one up for an out...
...but nailed the rest.
With Dante out as a our star first baseman, Carter filled in a few innings...

After coming out the first inning with 3 runs, they couldn't score for the next few innings and the Red Raiders were up with 6 runs. They weren't giving up though. We started the last inning at the bottom of the lineup down 6-3. The first two kids got out. We found ourselves in a familiar, yet uncomfortable situation- 2 outs, last inning. Things were looking bleak.
The next 4 kids had base hits and they tied it up. Then Ethan (the lead runner) had to be pulled from second base with heat exhaustion. Carter had just batted so he was put in as a designated runner. Rhett was up to bat and had a tough day hitting so far. He nailed it down the middle and Carter came in to score!!!!

Such an awesome finish! These kids have played so hard this season. They have come from behind with two outs in the bottom of the last inning so many times. When you think it's hopeless they come through again. The strong players have been consistent and have worked hard to help out their teammates. And the young kids on the team never gave up and surprised us so many times. So proud of these kids! I would love to take this team on the road and see what they can do. They have made some top 10 plays and have tremendous heart.
