Julia's labs came back and look good. Her white blood count is 3200, which is the highest it's been in a long time. Her ANC is 1760!! (Doin' a little happy dance!) This is the big one for her body's ability to fight off anything. Her red blood count and hemoglobin are down from last week, but platelets are up. They will be watching her blood cultures for the next few days to make sure nothing grows. The big danger would be a port infection, so we pray it is still a healthy line. The educated guess is that she's fighting off a virus- that's what we want.
Her blood sugar is also low which is contributing to her feeling blah. Unfortunately not eating for several days and drinking only water catches up with you. She is far from dehydrated (she actually peed all over everything when we arrived because size 5 diapers aren't cutting it with the volume she pees at one time), but hopefully we can get her to drink some juice. We'll be heading to Chickfila when we get released and hope some lemonade will be appealing- yay sugar :) They're adding a bag of dextrose to her infusion, too.
She is receiving her rocephin infusion right now and we'll have to stay an extra 30 min to check for reactions. She had a severe reaction to amoxicillin when she was one with swelling, rash, and internal bleeding- known as erytheme multiforme with vasculitis. She was actually admitted here for a week. So no more penicillins for her. There is a 4% chance that she is also allergic to rocephin. Please pray the numbers are in our favor for once. We don't need a reaction right now.
Thank you for all your love and prayers today!
